We’ve been working hard to round out the lineup for Doheny Blues Festival 2014 – and it’s finally done! Here are the final 8 acts:
Roy Gaines: Texas guitarist Roy Gaines started playing guitar at age 6 and has ascended to legendary status. Gaines has played on recordings with many blues greats such as Roy “Pops” Milton, Chuck Willis & Ray Charles. Catch his intimate performance Sunday at the Backporch.
The California Honeydrops: Their style is a blend of Southern soul and Bay Area R&B with a twist of New Orleans street music. They don’t just play music – they throw parties!
JW-Jones from Canada: This year’s “Import Artist” comes all the way from Canada. Our Northern neighbor’s top touring blues artist brings his high energy show directly to you.
Eric Sardinas: It’s been 10 years since Doheny Blues alumni Eric Sardinas has rocked the beach. His electrifying slide guitar pushes the boundaries of blues and roadhouse rock.
Matthew Curry: At the young age of 18, Matthew Curry has been lighting up the worldwide blues scene with his mature vocals, screaming licks, and skills beyond his age.
The 44’s: One of the hardest working blues bands in the business, the 44’s have been touring non-stop since 2010. Their in-your-face yet contagious sound will grip you right from the start.
Earl Thomas & The Rhumboogies: Kicking off the Main Stage on Saturday is Earl Thomas & the Rhumboogies! A little Texas, a splash of Chicago, and West Coast Blues are all mixed in.
The Americans: Raw and full of energy, the Americans are steeped in US traditions of rock & roll.
